Travel Advisor Vicki Morrison Recommends PEI for an Enchanting Getaway!

The East Coast feels like a warm welcome home. I have explored many of Canada's Eastern treasures, but PEI has my heart. The moment your eyes set sights on the red cliffs and sandy shores you will be changed forever. Travelling there has never been easier, whether you drive, take a ferry or my favourite - taking a short plane ride. The Charlottetown Airport has come a long way and it is easy and hassle free, and your vacation starts the moment you touch down. Car rental companies are in abundance and the lots are all within a short walking distance. No overwhelming crowds, shops or chaos.
PEI offers an endless array of activities and sightseeing for many types of travellers. Solo travelers will find the warm hospitality inviting across the entire island, families can explore beaches, amusement parks, lighthouses and seal watching and I can honestly say for couples it is the most romantic road trippin' out there. Beachside picnics, sunsets by a lighthouse, endless fields of green and if you are lucky and travel early summer, fields of purple and pink Lupins will fill your sight. It is truly breathtaking.
A must for visitors is to experience all things Anne of Green Gables. Charming and well thought out driving routes are available online and at all onsite visitor centres that will guide you through the world of Anne and Lucy Maud Montgomery. It truly is heartwarming.
I suggest a drive from the East Cape Lighthouse to the North Cape Lighthouse, which is known as the Tip to Tip drive and you can brag that you have seen the farthest ends of the island.
The Points East Coastal Drive is the most popular with stops including the beach and art community of Souris where you can hunt for seaglass by the hours, or visit unique crafters like Messy Crow Art Studio - this is a highly recommended stop! Find Lisa's shop on Facebook and Instagram for wonderful updates!
Fishing charters, 50 +beaches, golfing and delicious food discoveries create the East coast of the island.
The North Cape Coastal Drive is near and dear to my heart. Dramatic landscape, Potato Museum (with an amazing restaurant onsite) Stompin Tom Center for musical entertainment, lighthouses, and the famous Bottlehouses are all a must see!
Cottages, trendy hotels and unique accommodations are island wide and any true foodie will be in heaven. PEI is Enchanting! For those of you who have yet to discover this island secret in Canada, please explore and reach out.
