This includes the Raphael Rooms and truly awe-inspiring art collection of the Sistine Chapel. With your local guide, take an interior visit to the Colosseum, Rome’s greatest amphitheatre and Roman Forum which was the centre of social life in Ancient Rome. Explore the famous squares and fountains in Rome and be sure to toss a coin in the famed Trevi Fountain. Depart for Orvieto and take the funicular up to the “city in the clouds”, for centuries a sanctuary for popes. Continue your journey to the medieval town of Assisi taking a full-day guided walking tour, including a visit to the Basilica of San Francesco where you may wish to attend the morning vespers in the Santa Caterina Chapel. In the afternoon, visit the Basilica di Santa Chiara and as part of the tour, see Piazza del Commune, which is Assisi’s main square. Along the way you will learn of many relevant sites of St. Francis, including Chiesa Nuova (New Church) and Duomo di San Rufino. On route to Florence make a stop in Siena, a UNESCO world heritage site. Enjoy a guided tour of Siena, including entrance to the Duomo. Explore Florence, the capital of the Renaissance, starting with a walking tour of the city centre which will include an interior visit to Santa Croce. Visit Galleria Dell’Accademia home to Michelangelo’s David and explore the highlight of the city, The San Lorenzo Market. The final stop on this tour will be Milan, with a short visit to Cremona, which has a distinguished musical history. Here you will visit Museo Stradivariano, where drawings, models and violins were made by the master craftsman. Your final day in Milan, the city known for its thriving fashion industry, includes sights of the city with a guided walking tour. Visit the incredibly ornate Milan Cathedral, where you will climb the steps to the roof to admire its beautiful spires. The afternoon will be free to explore the city – you may choose to shop at the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele or purchase tickets to Milan’s Santa Mariea delle Grazie Church, home to many of Leonardo da Vinci’s greatest masterpieces.
