Your Italian adventure begins! After our designated pickups, we gather at Toronto Pearson Airport, to check in for our overnight flight to Milan. Relax and anticipate the journey ahead as we prepare to dive into Italy’s history, culture, and culinary treasures!

Day 2 | Thursday, October 23   D
MILAN – LAKE COMO
Welcome to Milan! Upon arrival, our Italian journey begins with a guided tour of the magnificent Duomo di Milano, one of the most stunning examples of Gothic architecture in the world. Feel the awe as you stand in front of its intricate facade and towering spires. Afterward, we dive into Milan’s renowned culinary scene for lunch—treat yourself to local favorites like saffron risotto, ossobuco, or a crisp Milanese cutlet at a cozy trattoria. In the afternoon, take some free time to explore Milan’s fashion districts or enjoy its rich culture. Whether shopping along the Corso Buenos Aires or relaxing with an espresso in one of Milan’s charming cafés, you’ll feel the city’s pulse. Later, we transfer to the serene shores of Lake Como. Settle into our beautiful lakeside hotel in Varenna, where you’ll be welcomed with a delicious dinner, soaking in the first flavours of Italy and the peaceful atmosphere of the lake. LAKE COMO
Today, prepare to be enchanted by the beauty of Lake Como! We begin the day with a scenic boat tour across the glassy waters, surrounded by majestic hills and picturesque lakeside villages. Marvel at the grandeur of the historic villas and lush landscapes as you cruise along, feeling the peaceful charm of this world-famous lake. The afternoon is yours to explore at leisure. Stroll through the quaint streets, relax by the water’s edge, or enjoy lunch at a lakeside café, sampling regional specialties while soaking up the stunning views. As evening falls, we gather for another delightful dinner, sharing stories of the day’s adventures with newfound friends. Breathe in the magic of Lake Como as your day ends with a perfect blend of tranquility and indulgence.

Day 4 | Saturday, October 25   B/L
LAKE COMO – VERONA
Today, we journey into the heart of Italy’s wine country with a visit to the famous Franciacorta wine region. Indulge in a tasting at one of the region’s prestigious wineries, where sparkling wines and delectable local dishes await. Savour each sip and bite, knowing you’re tasting the true flavours of Italy.  Next, we head to the romantic city of Verona, where a guided tour will introduce you to the city’s rich history and cultural treasures. Stand beneath Juliet’s balcony, wander through ancient streets, and admire the Roman Arena. After checking into our hotel, enjoy a dinner at one of Verona’s delightful restaurants, where the food is as timeless as the city itself. Whether you try risotto, gnocchi, or the local specialty of pearà sauce, each dish tells a story of tradition and passion.  Return to the hotel, unwind and prepare for another exciting day ahead.

Day 5 | Sunday, October 26   B
VERONA – VENICE
After breakfast, we depart for the enchanting city of Venice, known as the city of water. A private boat will transfer us to the island, offering our first glimpse of the city’s iconic canals and stunning architecture.  Our guide will lead a fascinating walking tour, including a visit to the breathtaking St. Mark’s Basilica. Take in the grandeur of this historic site before the afternoon unfolds at your own pace. Wander through Venice’s narrow alleys, cross over the canals on picturesque bridges, or perhaps indulge in a classic gondola ride.  Lunch and dinner are yours to enjoy at your leisure—whether you sample Venetian classics like bigoli in salsa or the intriguing risotto al nero di seppia, each meal is a culinary delight. And don’t forget to continue your gelato quest—each day is another opportunity to discover a new favorite flavour!

Day 6 | Monday, October 27   B/L
VENICE – MODENA
Your culinary adventure deepens today as we depart Venice and head to the charming city of Parma, home to two of Italy’s most beloved delicacies—Parmesan cheese and Parma ham. Our first stop is a Parmesan cheese factory, where you’ll witness the meticulous process behind crafting this world-famous cheese. Of course, no visit would be complete without a tasting! Savour the nutty, rich flavours that can only come from authentic Parmigiano-Reggiano.  Next, we visit a Parma ham factory, learning the time-honored techniques that give this prosciutto its delicate, savory taste. A tasting of this culinary gem will follow, offering the perfect complement to our cheese experience. We’ll then enjoy a lunch celebrating Parma’s culinary heritage, featuring regional dishes prepared with fresh, local ingredients.  In the afternoon, we continue to Modena, a vibrant city known for its rich history, food, and, of course, balsamic vinegar. The evening is yours to explore the historic streets, perhaps sampling the renowned Modenese cuisine or finding the perfect trattoria for a leisurely dinner. Soak in the ambiance of this charming town before a restful night.

Day 7 | Tuesday, October 28   B/L/D
BOLOGNA
Today we visit Bologna, a city often called the gastronomic heart of Italy. Did you know that both mortadella and the original Italian lasagna hail from Bologna? Begin your day with a hands-on cooking class, where local chefs will guide you through the creation of traditional Bolognese dishes. Roll up your sleeves and immerse yourself in the art of Italian cooking! Afterward, enjoy the fruits of your labour with a delicious meal you’ve prepared yourself, indulging in the rich flavours of authentic Bolognese cuisine. The afternoon is free for you to explore Bologna’s medieval streets and vibrant piazzas. Visit landmarks like Piazza Maggiore or climb the Two Towers for sweeping views of the city.  In the evening, we return to Modena for a delightful group dinner at a local restaurant, where you’ll have a chance to share stories and laughter with your fellow travelers over another delectable feast.

Day 8 | Wednesday, October 29   B
MODENA – FLORENCE
Our day begins with a visit to a traditional balsamic vinegar farm in the heart of Modena, where the age-old process of producing this exquisite condiment will be revealed. Discover the complexities of aged balsamic vinegar during a tasting that showcases its rich, nuanced flavours.  Afterward, enjoy some free time to explore Modena’s charming streets at your own pace. Whether you opt for a cozy trattoria or a casual bite, lunch is a chance to savour even more local specialties.  In the afternoon, we head to the enchanting city of Florence, the cradle of the Renaissance. After checking in, the evening is yours to enjoy Florence’s enchanting atmosphere. Take a stroll along the Ponte Vecchio, explore the city’s historic squares, or indulge in a delicious meal at one of Florence’s famed restaurants. Be sure to try local favourites like Florentine steak or the simple yet satisfying Schiacciata, a flavorful flatbread. And of course, finish the night with some of the best gelato in Italy!

Day 9 | Thursday, October 30   B/D
FLORENCE
Immerse yourself in the artistic treasures of Florence with a guided tour that delves into the city’s rich history. Explore the city’s Renaissance legacy as your guide shares the stories behind Florence’s masterpieces.  The highlight of the day is a visit to the Galleria dell’Accademia, where you’ll marvel at Michelangelo’s David, one of the most iconic sculptures in the world. After the tour, visit the vibrant San Lorenzo Market, where you can browse for leather goods and local souvenirs.  For those more interested in culinary delights, head to the Mercato Centrale to sample artisan specialties.  For a taste of history, check out the Mercato del Porcellino, Florence’s oldest leather market near Piazza della Signoria. Or, if you prefer a scenic walk, cross the Ponte Vecchio or climb to Piazzale Michelangelo for breathtaking views of the city.  In the evening, we’ll gather for another hands-on cooking class, this time focused on Tuscan cuisine. Learn to prepare regional favourites and then sit down to enjoy the meal you’ve created, a perfect way to end the day.

TENUTA TORCIANO/FLORENCE
Your Tuscan tasting adventure continues with a visit to the picturesque Tenuta Torciano Estate, where you’ll experience the age-old tradition: olive picking. Learn about the cultivation and production of this quintessential Italian ingredient while participating in the olive harvest.  Afterward, enjoy a typical Tuscan lunch at the estate, featuring fresh, local ingredients and, of course, their finest olive oil.  Savor the flavors of Tuscany in a serene and beautiful setting, making this a truly memorable part of your journey. In the afternoon, we return to Florence, where the rest of the day is yours to enjoy. Whether you choose to visit a museum, shop for local crafts, or relax at a café with an espresso, the evening is yours to explore Florence’s many charms. Dinner is on your own, offering the perfect chance to discover another hidden gem in this vibrant city.

Day 11 | Saturday, November 1   B
FLORENCE – CORTONA – BOLSENA
Today, we head to the pearl of Tuscany, Cortona. This picturesque hilltop town, made famous by Frances Mayes’ memoir Under the Tuscan Sun, offers spectacular views over the rolling hills of Tuscany. Spend time exploring Cortona’s medieval streets and charming piazzas. Soak in the Italian ambiance while sipping an aperitivo or browsing local shops. Enjoy lunch on your own before we continue to Bolsena, a tranquil town nestled beside Lake Bolsena.  The evening is yours to relax and unwind, perhaps with a lakeside stroll or dinner featuring local fish specialties like the renowned eel of Bolsena or the region’s hearty sbroscia fish soup.

Day 12 | Sunday, November 2   B
BOLSENA – ORVIETO
Our day begins with a visit to the hilltop town of Orvieto, known for its striking white wines and stunning architecture. We start with a guided tour of the town’s historical highlights, including its underground city and other hidden gems. Afterward, wander through Orvieto’s charming streets and enjoy a leisurely lunch on your own at one of its quaint restaurants. Don’t miss the chance to pair your meal with a glass of the famous Orvieto Classico wine. In the afternoon, we visit a nearby winery for a delightful wine tasting experience, learning about the region’s winemaking traditions. As the day winds down, we return to the tranquil town of Bolsena, to enjoy a leisurely evening, while reflecting on the day’s discoveries.

Day 13 | Monday, November 3   B/L/FT
BOLSENA – TIVOLI – ROME
After checking out, we begin a scenic drive to Tivoli for a guided tour of the stunning Villa d’Este, renowned for its breathtaking Renaissance gardens, fountains, and waterfalls. As you explore this UNESCO World Heritage site, our guide will share its fascinating history.  Afterward, enjoy a delightful lunch at a local restaurant before we continue to Rome. On arrival, we’ll visit the vibrant Trastevere neighborhood, known for its rustic charm and rich culinary traditions. On our food tour you will sample a variety of local specialties, from savoury bites to sweet treats, and discover why Trastevere is a food lover’s paradise.  After a day full of exploration and culinary delights, we gather for  an aperitivo – try a classic Aperol Spritz or the famous Negroni.  The remainder of the evening is yours to explore the Eternal City!

Day 14 | Tuesday, November 4   B/D
ROME
The day is yours to explore Rome at your own pace.  The “Eternal City” has it all from history and architecture to art and delicious cuisine! Visit iconic landmarks like the Colosseum, Roman Forum, or Vatican City, admire the famous Spanish Steps, marvel at the ancient beauty of the Pantheon, or take in the masterpiece of Baroque architecture of Rome’s most famous fountain, Trevi Fountain.  If you have been to Rome before you can take a more off-the-beaten-path adventure by visiting the Catacombs or Ostia Antica, a short trip outside the city to explore ancient ruins.  For those looking to shop, Via del Corso and Via Margutta offer elegant boutiques and charming ivy-covered palazzos. Whatever you choose, the day is about your personal discoveries and your own Rome memories. In the evening, we’ll gather for a farewell dinner at a charming local restaurant. Raise a glass to the friendships and experiences made on this unforgettable journey as you savour a delicious farewell dinner – a perfect finale to your Italian journey.  “Buon appetito!”

As our Italian adventure comes to an end, we transfer to Rome’s Fiumicino Airport for our flight back to Toronto. Level 2 – Moderate – This trip is appropriate for travellers who are in good health and are comfortable with full-day excursions including being able to walk long distances that can be more difficult at times. Participants with good balance, mobility, and moderate fitness level should not require physical preparation to enjoy the various activities of this tour.  Walking on uneven terrain, cobblestone streets, sometimes uphill, walking and standing for long periods of time during guided tours, easy physical activities, stairways sometimes without handles, absence of elevators, and getting on and off various modes of transportation unassisted can be expected.
