Join the CanHist tour Team for “VEDay80”, as we commemorate the 80th Anniversary for the Liberation of the Netherlands in May 2025. Over 15 days our tour will situate you along the ‘Path of Liberation’ taken by Canadian Forces in the Second World War leading up to ‘VEDay’ 1945. David Godfrey
David left full-time teaching in 2005 and began working with Travelbound, a student holiday company based in the UK, accompanying groups mainly to the Normandy Battlefields, from which his keen interest in the history of the two World Wars developed.
By 2012 David had begun to work for Newmarket Holidays, when a chance encounter in Prague was to lead him to join APT the following year. He has led land tours in several European countries, including D-Day Anniversary Tours (70th , 75th and 80th in 2024).
David is a keen hiker and enjoys autumn holidays in the Austrian Alps and winter holidays in the Spanish Sierras. Much of his off-season is spent in catching up with his very large extended family scattered around the UK.
Working in travel gives David the opportunity to share his passion of European history and culture, always remembering that for the guest any visit is a unique experience and is extra special. He has also had the opportunity to meet so many extraordinary people travelling around and to work with so many exceptional colleagues. It really is a privilege to be able to share people’s holidays and special moments.
