The world-class cities of Paris and Barcelona mark the beginning and end points of this tour, while four days in Southern France provide a glimpse of the French Riviera and other highlights like Avignon, Pont du Gard and Carcassonne. Two nights in Paris gives you enough time to discover the City of Lights on a guided tour, as well as some exploration time in Montmartre, a visit to the Louvre Museum, and a guided tour of the magnificent Paris Opera House, and an evening cruise on the Seine River. Then, travel by France’s renowned TGV Train down to Nice for a 1-night stay, to tour this beautiful Riviera city, with its Old and New quarters and a stroll along its Mediterranean waterfront, the Promenade des Anglais. Continue your journey to Avignon, home to the bridge made famous by the popular French children’s song Sur le Pont d’Avignon. During your two days here, you will tour the UNESCO World Heritage site of Palais des Papes, as well as the Music Conservatory and Opera House, and a day trip will allow you to explore Ancient Roman history at the Pont du Gard Aqueduct and the Roman Amphitheatre in Nimes. A night in the ancient walled city of Carcassonne will take you to a place of towers, turrets and cobblestone alleys, bringing your time in France to an end. Then, you’ll cross the border into Spain with a stop to discover the intriguing scenery at Montserrat Monastery and, if you’re lucky, a chance to hear the famous Boys’ Choir perform. The final two days of your tour will be spent in Barcelona where you will discover many of its highlights on a guided tour, including the Gran Teatre des Liceu Opera House, and the exceptional, yet-to-be-finished, Sagrada Familia Basilica. You will discover Gaudi’s artistic genius in Parc Guell, and step foot-first into Spanish culture at a dance class with a Flamenco teacher.
